Built in October of 1951, this Fairbanks-Morse unit was designated a class FGP-16msc ((F= Fairbanks Morse, GP= General Purpose, 16=1600HP, M= MU, S= Steam Generator, C= Speed Control) and used primarily for passenger service most of its life. Date is approximate. No photographer listed but possibly could be one of John Krause's LIRR photos. It is wearing the "Goodfellow colors"- gray body & orange ends and pilot - which were applied starting in 1955 through 1959. Date is approximate. No photographer was listed for this photo but could be a John Krause photo. With Mike Woodruff's help (see comment below), the locaiton has been identified as on the Montauk branch at Glendale, NY.
