Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Duncannon, Pennsylvania, c. 1954. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6738, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built as an M-1A by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during June of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in October of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. Also visible to the right is PRR engine #920, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata in July of 1917 and retired in 1959. This freight train has just departed the Enola Yards for Altoona while paralleling the left-to-right-flowing Susquehanna River on a brisk Winter's afternoon. Edward Kaspriske Collection. |
