Louisville & Nashville E8A 796 was at the engine service area in New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. While all of the railroad’s new and used E8A’s had been built with curved number boards, all of them EXCEPT the 796 received number boxes. The locomotive had been built in May 1951, was retired May 1972 and used as trade-in credit with EMD. (approximate date of photo) |
