Lamco Railroad SD10 315 was photographed in the Illinois Central Gulf’s STUYVESANT DOCKS YARD, located along the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The loco was on its way from the ICG's shop in Paducah, Kentucky to LAMCO - the Liberian-American-Swedish Mining Co - and would be loaded on a ship here in New Orleans. It was frame number 5244-7, built in June 1953 as UP SD7 781, and was renumbered UP 456 in December 1962. The placard attached to the handrails provided the unit’s weight (353,530 pounds) and shipping information to Buchanan, Liberia. |
