| This image of North Louisiana & Gulf GP38 46 illustrates the built-out cab front that was used on 15 Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines GP38's, 14 Penn Central GP38's and 5 Reading SD45's between 1967 and 1971. The design provided extra space inside the cab on units equipped with a dual-control console. This was a large box in the middle of the cab, with a set of controls on each side, and was offered as an alternative to using two complete sets of controls in opposite corners of the cab. This unit was built as PRSL 2000, and was subsequently Conrail 7660, NL&G 46, Iowa Interstate 600, GMTX 2080 and then GMTX 2690. Dodson, Louisiana is on the former Rock Island line between Hodge and Winnfield. |
