My chase of the Red Unit began at Cotton Mill trestle. This coal empty, 821, met the circus train, 099, at Forest, VA         
Trestle (and the two other big ones, "Possum Creek and Beaver Creek) part of the N&W Belt Line built 1906-1908 to bypass congested downtown Lynchburg. The Belt Line was built for double track, but remained a single-track line.
