Amtrak Passenger Station, 1973
Stations. Here is an original photo that I took of Penn Central Railroad property during June of 1973. Shown here is the PC/Amtrak "Temporary Station Altoona." The brick structure across the tracks was owned by Altoona Pipe and Steel in 1973. Before that, it was part of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 12th Street Shops . . . and before that, it was part of the Altoona Car Shops . . . and before that, it was part of the Altoona Works where they built everything from locomotives to cabin cars!
