CP and NYSW ran their power through on the stack trains, which ran almost daily. With the relatively high number of these trains and the number of diesels needed to keep them moving, it was more common to see mixed consists than matched. It was therefore something of a surprise to see 255-the SLN 5-with a matched set not only of NYSW power, but three of the four remaining B 40s. Here they are about to roll over the road crossing at Canisteo. Any other day I'd have chased this train; I caught it while following 270 east, which had an M636 in the consist. I saw relatively few 6 motor Alcos on the Tier, so was not going to give that up. |
