A Residco SD40-2 in an SD45 carbody rolls through Saginaw Interlocker with flared radiators leading a BNSF C44-9W on BNSF rails. OFOX 2797 was originally delivered to Southern Pacific as SD45 9097 in April 1969, retired and sold to National Railway Equipment returning as UP 4747 a rebuilt SD40-2 in April 1999. In December 2001 this unit was renumbered UP 2797 then moved off the roster becoming CEFX 2797 but operating in UP paint. In January 2008 Union Pacific retired this unit from the roster and CIT Group placed the it in the general lease pool until being sold to Residco and now works as OFOX 2797 still keeping the UP paint and number. |
