They had an engine at each end of the train.
I think both where GP 38 but if I am wrong please let me know, as I am mostly a steam man. This is a former CSX work engine.

Thanks, the only diesel book I have only goes up to 1972 and the latest GP is a GP 38. How do you tell the difference between a GP 38 and a GP 40?

The GP40 is longer and has 3 radiator fans at the back, the GP38 only has two radiator fans at the back. The GP40 also has one turbocharger stack.
