North end of the siding
This is the northend of the siding at Ulmer, SC. These signals look pretty original in silver paint as in SAL days instead of the black paint on the upper half of the masts like most have gotten. About the only modernization is the satellite dish on the signal box.....whatever thats for and a lot of those are on this subdivision.

Tim Huemmer General Why is there an extension cord running out of that signal??? 3/6/2006 8:53:04 AM
ANDY TAYLOR General The satellite dish is part of the new upgrade CSX has incorporated into their block signal system out of the Jacksonville dispatch center. 3/15/2006 4:05:08 PM
Eugene Cain General Dishes were installed in 2004...Satelite uplink now controls the CTC. (Pole Line formerly carried the circuits) The "extention cord" you see was a temporary connection...Signal work was going on when you took the Picture. The "approach" aspect is missing on the dwarf because it was not needed. Except for the Dish, this is all origional SAL CTC apparatus 10/22/2012 11:00:40 AM
Chris Martone General The Approach signal is also missing from the highmast too. 10/23/2012 11:45:48 PM
Carter Buchanan General Eugene, there are a lot of signals like this on the Columbia and Hamlet Subdivisions, where the approach indications are blocked out on both the dwarf and high mast signals. I've always been curious about if those signals have always been like that (minus the two headed signals, those have all 3 indications on the top and 2, I am assuming lunar for going into the siding, on the bottom and the approach blocked at the ends going back to single track). I haven't been down in this part of the world in a long while, I need to make a trip for memories sake since I like seeing the traffic, especially south of Fairfax with the Augusta Sub traffic added and to see the changes to the S line. 5/16/2013 2:11:55 AM
