Number 400 was built in October 1949 as C&NW F7 4084C (c/n 8573) on EMD Order E1188. During November 1960 it was regeared from the original 62:15 (65 mph) gear ratio to 57:20 (95 mph) gear ratio, and equipped with Cummins diesel generator set for 440VAC auxiliary power for Chicago suburban service. Between December 1971 and January 1972 it was renumbered to 415, remaining in suburban service until an unknown date. It was renumbered to 400 (2nd) during 1982 and became part of the Executive F fleet, retired in 1985 and replaced by 425. which was renumbered 400 (3rd). It appears it now resides on the WGN in Spooner, Wisconsin. |
