Description: |
A pair of former San Antonio & Aransas Pass consolidations were parked off of the turntable at the Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) AVONDALE YARD, just west of New Orleans. C-20 class 869 had been built for stock by Alco’s Cooke Works (62725) in December 1920 and was sold to Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc (a brewery in Monterrey, Mexico) as their 2275 in April 1921. It was resold to the San Antonio & Aransas Pass (via the Western Equipment Co.) as their 262 in November 1922, became Texas & New Orleans 869 in 1925 and was sold for scrap to Commercial Metals in Houston on 5 August 1955. On the other side of the 869 was C-24 class 888, previously SA&AP 243, which was sold to Commercial Metals on 11 February 1955. |
