Westbound MNA Manifest Train |
Description: |
We're stopped in the siding at Lees Summit with MNA Train LMNPHJ 03 for an MNA Grain Train that never showed up due to it laying down on Independence Hill. We were sent to Rock Creek Jct. to cut off our train and then push the stalled grain load up the Independence and Lees Summit Hill with the power seen here. I have to admit, that was pretty fun...until the slack ran in. |

Southbound MNA Loaded Grain Train |
Description: |
Sitting on the MNA Clinton Sub. waiting for an Empty APL Coal Train is MNA Train GSVCKN 10 with 77 loads of grain for Tyson Bergman, AR. We backed onto the Clinton Branch for a meet. Not every day this happens. Initially this train had only 2 engines, but we added the 3rd unit at Kansas City. Otherwise, we'd have never made it up Independence Hill with our 10,268 ton train. We took the train down to Lamar, MO, 125 miles out of Kansas City and put her away in the siding with 45 minutes to work. |

They happened to have her fired up today and appeared to be doing a little servicing on 1989 today. It hasn't been used since 12-7-09 on UP Train ETBNYE 06 during Snow Bus service. She's still coupled up to the caboose and the SD9043MAC, but hasn't left UP North Yard in Denver in over a month. Sure would be nice to see this out on the main for once. Hopefully there will be more snow so 1989 will get to stretch its legs. |

Southbound BNSF Loaded Coal Train |
Description: |
From the top of a frozen Palmer Lake we see a Texas-bound coal train headed south down the Colorado Joint Line with GEVOs on the point. This gives us a good comparison between the production version, and the pre-production version second out. They're bascially ES44AC's on the inside, the builders plate says AC4400EV, and the BNSF model designation is AC4400CW. |

The New Iowa Interstate Railroad Rock Island Heritage Locomotive has been released from Mid-America Car & Locomotive and has been added to the consist of DME Train 271-20 and will head to its new home rails via ex-Rock Island trackage. At this point they were beginning to make their way to the west end of the yard before heading back to their outbound train on the east end. Kudos to the IAIS for this. What an awesome looking locomotive. By far the best looking wide-nosed GE since the Santa Fe Warbonnets were new. Can you smell what the ROCK is cookin'? |
