Album Info:A variety of non locomotive rolling stock, mostly freight cars, but also trailers and containers, other highway vehicles, snow plows, flangers, spreaders, components and the like. A big tip of the hat to Paul O'Shell, a retired CN man who served in a variety of work equipment supervisory positions over a 48 year career. Paul has provided valuble information on a wide variety of CN and CP MOW equipment, as well as dispositions when known. Thank you sir!!

Headed to a new home
Title:  Headed to a new home
Description:  As the Long Island re equipped in the 90s, trading its GP 38s for newer power, it also acquired new cars, rendering the old warriors surplus. Many of these P 72s were still in decent enough shape that they found their way to new homes on tourist roads, everywhere from the NYSW to the Arkansas & Missouri. These three are at Conklin on the D&H.

Heave ho!!
Title:  Heave ho!!
Description:  During the summer of 1999, the cars and E unit that had been part of the Susquehanna Valley NRHS were moved out(by truck, how undignified!!) and this set of trucks was left behind for a future trip. My son Michael attempts to give them a push to their new home. He was 9 then, and a fun kid. I miss that little boy who was a constant train watching companion as a small boy, going everyplace with us no matter where we chased. Michael passed away in January 2014 at 24. RIP Mikey.

Dont see many of these
Title:  Dont see many of these
Description:  One of the roads that ultimately wound up, partly, since some of it, the ex GM&O main in Illinois, went to UP, was Gateway Western, which was a successor to Chicago, Missouri & Western, which had taken over the ex GM&O after ICG spun it off in the 1980s. Some of the rolling stock is still kicking around, though there isnt much left at this time. This ex GWWR gon was spotted on the team track in Siloam Springs, in MOW service.

Description:  I had chased a set of lite power up from Siloam, to find him holding south of the siding at Gentry. A moment later the reason why became apparent when this hi rail truck appeared. I expected him to get out and bar up the rail wheels, but before I could even get a good set up, hed already raised them. Aint modern technology great?? Pushbutton from the cab. Track geometry car
Title:  Track geometry car
Description:  One of the more interesting pieces of non revenue equipment is this track geometry car I saw on a northbound M train recently. Where in the past, there might be a special train run that has cars fitted out with sensors that will detect and record various track conditions, now that is all done with the same equipment in a box car. Presumably, its connected to the internet, and is transmitting the information to the appropriate people, without having to run a special train.
